Always Lancaster’s mission is to support philanthropic and charitable giving to ensure that Lancaster County retains robust local news reporting.

Led by journalist and former National Public Radio host David Greene, Always Lancaster is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local journalism in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Founded in 2025, it owns LNP Media Group, which publishes the daily newspaper LNP, the weekly newspapers The Lititz Record and The Ephrata Review, and the news website LancasterOnline.com, ensuring the community has access to trusted, high-quality reporting. LNP Media Group also operates a full-service print and digital marketing agency.

The Cost of Losing Local News

Since 2005, the United States has lost more than a third of its newspapers.

Research shows that when the availability of local news declines, there are serious and measurable negative impacts on communities including:

David Greene is a former resident of Lancaster and a graduate of McCaskey High School. David is an award-winning journalist who served as host for NPR’s Morning Edition. Currently, David hosts the KRCW podcast Left, Right, and Center, dedicated to fruitful discussions across all sides of the political spectrum.  

Steve Falk is a native of Lancaster and a graduate of Elizabethtown College who began his newspaper career as an assistant to the editor of the Intelligencer Journal, an LNP forerunner. Falk retired in 2023 as CEO of Sonoma Media Investments, a California-based company that was sold in May to Alden Capital Group. Falk has also previously been president and CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and has served as president and publisher of the San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner. He serves on the board of managers for the Lancaster County Local Journalism Fund, which was established by the Steinman Foundation in 2020. Falk lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.  

Miguel Nistal is CEO of Alphia Corporation, which makes pet food for a variety of brands. Nistal, who lives in Manheim Township, is the former CEO of Lititz-based Woodstream Corporation and is also on the board of directors of the Steinman Foundation.

Susan Eckert of Manheim Township spent 25 years as president of the United Way of Lancaster County, retiring in 2012. Her consulting practice, The Eckert Group, works to improve public health infrastructure in Lancaster County. She is a former WITF board member and currently serves as chair of the board of managers for the Lancaster County Local Journalism Fund.
